In the first photo of his drama “Iron Claw,” Zac Efron is adamantly pursuing it.
On Monday, the actor posted the first look image from A24 to his Instagram. It shows him gliding through the air in a Speedo while he hits a knockout on an opponent in a wrestling match.
This image shows him hovering near the horizontal, his muscles rumbling and his hair flying as he kicks his opponent barefoot.
Efron will play the role of Kevin Von Erich, a legendary wrestler. According to the website, the Von Erichs are a well-known family of wrestlers who started in the WWE in the 1960s. In 2009, they were inducted into The Hall of Fame.
Fritz Von Erich, the family patriarch, was a star in the industry and trademarked a unique finishing move called “The Iron Claw.” Before his six sons became wrestlers themselves, five of them followed in their father’s footsteps.
Efron will play Kevin, the last surviving sibling, alongside costars Lily James (“Pam & Tommy”), and Maura Tierney (“The Affair”), who will play Doris.
“The Iron Claw,” not yet released, is from Sean Durkin, writer-director. Durkin’s credits also include “Martha Marcy May Marlene,” starring Elizabeth Olsen in 2011.
