A Kennewick man is accused of holding his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint before she escaped and hid in the restroom of a Pasco bar.
Alfredo Sandoval, 25, is charged with first-degree robbery in Benton County Superior Court after trying to force the woman to drive him home.
He’s been released from the Benton County jail after posting a $10,000 bond, according to court records.
Sandoval’s ex-girlfriend was at The Hideout Bar at 2107 W. Fourth Ave. on Nov. 1 when she saw him there. The couple had split in April and situation was tense between them, court documents said.
When he showed up, she tried to leave with her friends. She got into the driver’s seat, but before she was able to shut the driver’s door Sandoval approached her, court documents said. He told the woman that she needed to give him a ride home.
When she refused, he grabbed the car keys from her, and then pulled out a black handgun. He allegedly pointed the gun at her and a backseat passenger and ordered the passenger out of the car, according to court documents.
His ex-girlfriend tried to stall, saying that she needed to get her phone from the bar’s bathroom. He allowed her to go back inside to get it.
She called 911 from the restroom. Sandoval tried to force his way inside, but was stopped by other customers in the bar.
When police arrived, they found her distraught in the bathroom with two women trying to calm her down.
Sandoval was found outside of the business. Officers found the her keys in his pocket, but didn’t find the gun.
As Sandoval was being walked over to a patrol car, Stephanie Valencia Torres, one of Sandoval’s family members, approached them, court documents said. When officers told the highly intoxicated 22-year-old Kennewick woman to stop, she continued coming toward them.
An officer grabbed her arms and stopped her. Since she was becoming involved in a situation that potentially involved a gun, the officer moved her to a patrol car.
She kicked the officer in the leg several times, according to court documents. After pulling her out of the car, two officers held her down until she calmed down
Even after being put returned to the car, she continued to yell at the police.
She was taken to Trios Southridge Hospital because she said her head hurt and she was drunk. When she was in the emergency room, she also allegedly kicked two officers.
Later, she was booked into the Benton County jail and is being held in lieu of $2,500 bail on two counts of third-degree assault.
