Travis Kelce has never seen the beloved Christmas rom-com Love Actually — and he sees no problem with that.
During the Wednesday, December 4, episode of his and brother Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast, Travis’ sister-in-law, Kylie Kelce, called in to recommend a festive movie for the duo’s Film Club review series.
“I think it’s the holiday season and that Love Actually is a tremendous movie that you could really sit down with your significant others and enjoy,” Kylie, 32, who has been married to Jason, 37, since 2018, said in a recording. “Because it’s not like one of your significant others hasn’t asked you to watch it multiple times, and you said ‘no’ every time. So, this could be a great excuse to get you to watch it.”
Jason quickly shut down the idea, saying, “I think we can both probably agree we’re not doing Love Actually.”
Travis, 35, agreed, and threw some subtle shade at the 2003 film.
“Yeah, probably not. I’ll do like a really good Christmas movie, though,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said.
After “New Heights” intern Brandon Borders chimed in to say that Kylie offered to come on the podcast if the brothers agreed to review Love Actually, Jason suggested that Kylie should cover the film on her own newly announced podcast, “Not Gonna Lie.” He even offered to be Kylie’s guest so that Travis could avoid watching the movie.
“Yeah, don’t f—ing torture me; torture your husband,” Travis quipped. “I’m an innocent bystander here, Ky. Don’t f—ing come for me.”
Jason and Travis also discussed the Love Actually cast, getting excited about the “Mr. Bean” (Rowan Atkinson) cameo and wondering whether Liam Neeson’s involvement meant it was “like a Taken film.” Jason asked whether Travis’ personal acquaintance with Hugh Grant — who plays David the Prime Minister in the film — would make the movie “hit the same.”
Travis, who did tequila shots with Grant, 64, at one of girlfriend Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour shows at London’s Wembley Stadium in June, assured Jason that wouldn’t be a problem.
“I’ve watched, like, two or three movies with Hugh in it since [meeting him] and I f—ing Iove all of them. There’s something about knowing the guy, man,” Travis said. “I never said we wouldn’t enjoy the movie, I just said I don’t wanna review it.”
However, by the end of the brothers’ conversation, Jason declared, “We’re gonna do Love Actually.”
While Travis has never seen the holiday film — which also stars Colin Firth, Laura Linney, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Keira Knightley and Bill Nighy — Swift, 34, dubbed it her favorite movie during her Vogue’s “73 Questions” interview in 2016.
The singer, who has been dating Travis since the summer of 2023, also called herself “a long time Hugh Grant stan” when responding to the actor’s praise for her Eras Tour show.
Grant took to X in June to write, “Dear @taylorswift13, You have an incredible show, an amazing and v hospitable team and excellent if gigantic boyfriend (#tequilashots.). Thanks so much from one ageing London boy, wife and thrilled 8 year old #halfgirlhalfbracelet.”
Swift replied that the tweet was “very important to my culture” due to her admiration for Grant’s work.
