JRL has topped the monthly contractor league table for February after winning a £400m job to build a 22-storey site for elderly people (pictured).
The contractor scored its first gold medal of the year after it was buoyed to the top by the bumper project it scooped from JTRE and Southwark Charities last month.
Midgard, JRL’s contractor arm, signed only one contract last month, but it was enough to push it to the top, according to data gathered by construction intelligence provider Glenigan.
Midgard will develop 62 almshouses for “local elderly residents in need” at the Southwark site, which will also include 22,500 square metres of flexible workspace and landscaped gardens. The residential part of the site will be Passivhaus, said the project architect Fathom.
The project is set for completion in 2025.

ISG also rose through the ranks to take second place, after it formally snagged two bumper jobs including a £300m prison project in Buckinghamshire. According to Glenigan, it only signed the contract during February.
The 67,000 square metre prison complex will be made up of six four-storey house blocks and other amenity buildings. The complex will be in the village of Grendon Underwood, alongside the existing Category D Grendon Prison and Spring Hill Prison.
Skanska landed fourth spot after winning a single job – the £200m Botanic Place development in Cambridge, where the Swedish contractor will develop a new 500,000 square foot workspace scheme.
Meanwhile, McAleer & Rushe snuck into the top 10 at seventh place, mainly thanks to a £72m job to build the Thrive Living retirement scheme in Tunbridge Wells. The site will comprise 166 properties for over-65-year-olds, and will include nine plots for retail companies and a new restaurant and cafe.

Morgan Sindall, meanwhile, maintained its spot at the top of the yearly table, with 327 jobs bringing it a total of £2.43bn, more than £800m ahead of its nearest competition, Galliford Try. Royal Bam, meanwhile, leap-frogged Wates to win third place, while Willmott Dixon moved from seventh to fifth.

ISG reappeared in the yearly league table, coming in at seventh after missing out last time round. Skanska nabbed tenth place after missing out on the top 10 annual table in January.
