Yes, Benny Blanco is aware that his Los Angeles-area home is just as eclectic as his wardrobe.
“I know the house is kooky,” Blanco, 35, told Architectural Digest in a May profile. “One time, a friend told me, ‘I love coming over to your house because I feel like I can just let go and be my true self.’ That’s exactly what I’m going for here.”
Blanco, however, denied that the residence is the backdrop for all-out ragers, insisting, “It’s refined: This is a ‘dinner party house.’”
Blanco bought the 1989-constructed house in 2019. While it is located near his recording studio, the property was always meant to be a peaceful retreat away from his work commitments.
“I need separation,” Blanco told AD. “Otherwise, I’m waking up at 3 a.m. and going to the other room to make a song.”
When Blanco purchased the abode, he worked with a team of designers to bring all sorts of fantasies to life. There’s an alfresco eating area in the backyard, a Mariah Carey-caliber dressing room and a movie theater with a candy bar.
“All the kids call it ‘the candy room,’” the producer joked. “They run out with candy bursting from their pockets, and they’re screaming [because] they’ve eaten so much sugar. Their parents probably hate me.”
As for the dressing room, Blanco even holds meetings on the floor. The closet space features white built-in shelves, an array of mirrored surfaces and a blush-colored velvet chair that matches an ottoman and the carpet.
The rug was even the centerpiece for Blanco’s proposal to his girlfriend of nearly two years, Selena Gomez. The Golden Globe nominee, 32, shared snaps of her diamond ring via Instagram on Wednesday, December 12, as she and Blanco cuddled on the floor of his glam space.
“Forever begins now,” Gomez captioned the post. Blanco, for his part, called her “my wife” in his reply.
Blanco’s home amenities don’t stop at his living and wardrobe areas as the property is, naturally, centered around the kitchen. Since Blanco — who released his Open Wide cookbook earlier this year — is a major foodie, he was insistent on an updated kitchen.
“It’s just the best free-flowing space in the house,” Blanco told the outlet of his all-white kitchen. “Everyone sits on top of the island.”
The house is decorated with all sorts of artwork, pillows and more, and no, Blanco doesn’t mind if they are mismatched.
“I’m not afraid to be a grandmother and have patterns everywhere,” he added. “I don’t mind a clash.”
