Elmira police officers were involved in a shooting incident early Friday morning while responding to a call for service.
The Elmira Police Department said the investigation is in the very early stages and details are limited at this time. Police did not indicate if anyone was struck by gunfire during the incident, which took place in the 300 block of East Water Street.
Police say additional information will be made available as the investigation unfolds. Police are asking motorists to avoid that stretch of East Water Street as it will be closed to vehicle traffic until further notice.
