Contractors alerted to £800m housing framework

An £800m framework covering houses, flats and care homes has opened to tender.

Social housing providers and local authorities are expected to use the framework, with most of the schemes awarded via the framework set to feature at least 30 homes.

The framework, run by Warrington-based Procurement for Housing (PfH), is divided into three lots. It will run for three years initially and may be extended for an additional two years.

The first lot, worth £200m, will cover low-rise housing, apartments and extra-care housing – homes with care facilities built in. It will also be split into regional areas which PfH said would “allow SMEs and regional contractors to bid”.

A second lot is worth £400m and covers medium-rise (over 11 metres) residential projects including homes, apartments and extra-care homes. It will also be split into regions.

The £200m third lot covers “a full range of housing solutions”, including mixed-use developments, and is not split into regions.

PfH said appointed builders should be able to use both traditional and modern methods of construction to “meet members’ requirements to gain additional funding through government affordable-housing programmes”.

PfH expects to name around 60 participants on the framework.

Interested contractors have until 12pm on 26 April to apply for a spot on the framework here.

In November, PfH launched a separated framework worth £400m, covering offsite residential construction.
