ARCTIC BLAST: Winter storm systems bring cold, rain and wind to Central Florida


Channel 9 meteorologists are monitoring an arctic blast and a winter storm that will bring rain, wind, and possibly a light wintry mix to parts of Central Florida.

Rain will continue to increase on Tuesday, with winds also turning breezy.

Highs Tuesday afternoon will only be in the mid to upper 50s.

More steady rain is likely overnight, with heavy rain at times.

In the early morning, a light mix of freezing rain and sleet is possible in parts of Marion County, where a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect.

Morning lows will be in the low 50s.

The rain will quickly end on Wednesday morning, but the chill will remain.

Highs for Wednesday will only be in the low 50s.

Another storm system will move through on Thursday, bringing the return of showers to the area.

Temps for Thursday will only climb into the low 50s.

Some drier weather finally returns to close the work week Friday, but more cool air is expected.

Highs for Friday will be in the mid-50s.
