GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — People were injured in a multiple-vehicle crash on US-131 in Grand Rapids Thursday night that shut down northbound lanes of the highway, the Grand Rapids Police Department confirmed.
The closure is at northbound US-131 and 28th Street, according to GRPD and the Michigan Department of Transportation.
Up to as many as 15 vehicles were reported to be in the crash, GRPD said, and some people are injured.
It’s not clear what caused the crash, but police warned that weather was likely the cause. Lake-effect snow moved in Thursday night, and the snowfall is expected to last through early Saturday morning, Storm Team 8 forecasts. A winter weather advisory is in effect for most of West Michigan through 7 a.m. Saturday.
